Guided Fly Fishing Charters in Southern Oregon
Tailored Trips for Every Angler
At Tone Trout Guiding, we design guided fly fishing charters that fit your goals, schedule, and skill level. Whether you’re looking for a quick introduction to casting on the Rogue River, a half-day of focused fishing, or a full-day immersion chasing steelhead and trophy trout in the Klamath Basin, we’ve got you covered. Each trip is private and personalized, ensuring that you get one-on-one instruction, access to prime water, and an unforgettable day on the river.
Our charters are about more than catching fish. They’re about learning, connecting with wild rivers, and building skills that last long after the trip ends. Beginners gain confidence through patient instruction, while experienced anglers get the challenge of technical waters and selective fish.

Trip Packages
What sets Tone Trout Guiding apart is the teaching-first approach. Tonie believes fly fishing is most rewarding when you understand the “why” behind each cast, drift, and presentation. That’s why he tailors instruction to your needs:
Half Day Charter ($400)
A Half Day trip strikes the right balance between instruction and opportunity. Over the course of four to five hours, you’ll rotate through productive runs, experiment with multiple techniques, and learn how to adapt to changes in light, current, and insect activity. Half Day charters are ideal for families, newcomers who want a solid introduction, or anyone seeking quality fishing within a tighter schedule. Snacks and beverages are included, and all essential tackle is provided.
Full Day Charter ($600)
Our Full Day charter is the most complete guided experience. With eight hours or more on the water, we can cover multiple sections of river, shift tactics as conditions change, and slow down enough to really dive into instruction. Full Day trips often begin with early-morning dry fly fishing, transition to nymphing during midday, and wrap up with evening swings for steelhead or trout. A riverside lunch is included, giving you a chance to relax and recharge before heading back out.

Rivers We Guide
Southern Oregon is a special place for fly fishing, offering diverse rivers and a long fishing season.
Rogue River
The Rogue is a year-round fishery with plenty of access and varied water types. From riffles and tailouts to deep runs, it’s a versatile river that suits anglers of all levels. Beginners love the Rogue because it’s forgiving and accessible, while advanced anglers enjoy swinging flies for aggressive steelhead or fishing the famous salmonfly hatch. Boat and walk-wade options are available depending on your comfort and preference.
Klamath Basin
The Klamath Basin is home to spring-fed rivers like the Williamson and Wood. These waters are renowned for producing large, strong rainbow trout and the occasional brown trout. Fishing here demands technical skill, including accurate forty-foot casts, stealthy approaches, and careful drifts. For anglers ready to test themselves, the Basin delivers some of the most rewarding fly fishing in the West.

What’s Included
Every charter includes the use of high-quality rods, reels, leaders, tippet, and flies. Waders and boots are available with advance notice. Quick and Half Day trips include beverages and snacks, while Full Day trips come with a prepared riverside lunch. Instruction, boat access where applicable, and patient coaching are always part of the package.
What to Bring
You’ll need a valid Oregon fishing license, polarized sunglasses, layered clothing suitable for the season, sun protection, and any personal items you prefer. If you have a favorite rod or reel, feel free to bring it along — we’ll tune your setup for the conditions.
Meeting Points
We meet at safe, convenient access locations based on the day’s river and conditions. Common Rogue River meeting points include Shady Cove, TouVelle State Recreation Area, and Dodge Bridge. For Klamath Basin trips, we often meet near the Williamson River, Spring Creek, or Wood River. Meeting details are confirmed when you book and again the day before your trip.

Final policies will be provided in writing, but standard guidelines include:
Clear cancellation windows
Safety-first decisions made by the guide regarding weather and flows
Responsible catch-and-release practices
